Directed by Chris Renaud and co-directed by Patrick Delage, alongside Mike White and Ken Daurio as writers, the film brings together elements, characters, and franchise features that caused a global sensation. As always, the film follows the life of former supervillian turned frenzied family man Gru, who’s now battling a new foe; a more complicated family life, and a tidal wave of hyperactive Minion havoc.
As with the previous installments, it is packed with goofball antics, endearing family scenes, silly minions, vibrant animation and so much more. Despicable Me 4 promises larger, bolder and more ambitious mischief than ever before.
Plot Summary
Currently, Gru works for the Anti-Villain League, and is now enjoying domestic life with wife Lucy and three adopted daughters Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Things begin to spiral out of control with the arrival of a new family member, baby talk, and animated antics with a superpowered child.
Now a dangerous blend of man and cockroach, Maxime bursts into a high school reunion to settle an old score with Gru. After capturing and turning him over to the authorities, however, Maxime manages to break out of prison with the help of Valentina, his accomplice. He then plans to take revenge by kidnapping Gru’s infant son.
In order to keep his family safe, the Anti-Villain League puts Gru in witness protection and relocates him to the quiet ‘Mayflower’, where he adopts a new identity. During this time, the family gets to meet some eccentric suburban neighbors, but must grapple with the constant struggle of being undercover. As it turns out, peace is brief.
Adding to the chaos is aspiring villain and hyperactive teenage girl, Poppy Prescott, who lives next door. As a big fan of Gru’s past exploits, Poppy blackmails him to assist her with pulling off a major heist at her high school involving its eagle mascot. As all this is happening, the former supervillain also has to deal with parenting problems, as his son Gru Jr. seems to prefer Lucy over him.

These new Minions become involved and as a result there is an explosion of action minimovies and sequences that leave viewers laughing.
As Valentina and Grandma Maxime inch nearer, Gru has to step up and defend himself as a father and family man using only his Minions and quick wit. In ‘The Thrilling Part’ of the movie, Maxime and Gru have a comical yet breath taking show down that makes him win the love and respect of his son.
